Welcome note from the ITC President

12th Conference of the International Test Commission

A Colloquium on Diversity and Equity in a Globalized Digital World: Opportunities and Challenges for Assessment

A warm welcome to the12th Conference of the ITC presented as the first fully online virtual colloquium taking place from 9-12 July 2021.

Due to the unpredictability of the global pandemic we are facing, we had to transition to new ways of conducting our business and relying more on technology to connect with our members. I am therefore pleased to announce that the conference organising committee, chaired by Dave Bartram, has worked hard to transform the postponed 12th ITC conference to an inclusive, engaging, and memorable online experience. The topic of the colloquium remains that of the Luxembourg conference: “Diversity and Equity in a Globalized Digital World: Opportunities and Challenges for Assessment.”

The virtual colloquium presented us with a unique opportunity to amplify the best of what the online modality affords – meaningful collaboration and the opportunity to connect with colleagues around the world with no additional traveling or accommodation expenses. In addition, we have decided to pass the benefits of hosting an online event by discounting registration fees to only 50% of what was set for the Luxembourg conference, whilst still maintaining the benefit of one-year individual membership. Interactivity and communication are important features of the colloquium to compensate for the fact that people are not engaging in the traditional face-to-face format. I therefore encourage you to get involved and take advantage of the many synchronous and asynchronous opportunities to engage with the content both during and after the event. As an additional benefit you will have access to the content of the full Colloquium for six months after the event.

I personally invite you to join us for this reimagined 12th ITC Conference and celebrate our collective resilience and dedication to stay committed to our mission of promoting effective testing and assessment policies and to the proper development, evaluation and use of educational and psychological instruments.

We are very much looking forward to meeting you all virtually and welcoming you to the ITC Colloquium on Tests and Testing in July 2021.
